Some Days I Just Crack Myself Up

I just got home from a great weekend in Tagaytay with the Santugon Execom of GE2012.  I'll make a dedicated post about that soon but for now, I must share how I crack myself up too much sometimes. I am too funny.

The Switch: Para sa Derecho

Tonight, I switched over the lanyard from my GE ID to my FE ID.  These two ID's represent two very different roles--two very contrasting stages of my recent life.  One was for position, honor, and the chance to serve my college; the other one is very much different.

Democracy: Ideals and Illusions

Originally published in April 2011.

“[A] government of the people, by the people, for the people.” - Abraham Lincoln
We’ve heard it all too often; the beauty of democracy, championing the empowerment of the citizenry over the leaders—leaders who are described as servants rather than lords. The high virtue of an idea that is selecting leaders based on the decision of the masses rather than through elite linkages or royal lineage. Democracy is freedom, equality, and security.
However, let us erase all history of democratic practice and imagine the story of democracy, possibly from the viewpoint of an enlightened caveman. "Democracy" means my leader will be chosen by all the people who are under the jurisdiction of the government, rather than by a few elites, nor by destiny due to bloodline.
Here arises the first complication.

On Perspectives: Musings on the Sunset

I rode the shuttle going home today.  In that tinted sardine van can, packed in with 18 other people, we travel the Skyway to Sucat—the fastest route there is.  It is during this time, when your right leg is going numb because your left butt cheek is sitting on nothing, when no one risks moving and bothering the silence and balance inside, that I either fall right to sleep or ponder the sights from the Skyway.

the Google Student Ambassador Summit SEA (Singapore, July 10-12, 2012)

It wasn't just the people.

Or the place.

Or the student summit, the activities, the loads of freebies, or the endless food.

It was the way everything beautifully merged together to form a heck of a 3-day experience.
